Drawn & Cornered at the Portland Museum of Art

Here are a few pictures of last night's performance of Drawn and Cornered, a project presented last night at the Portland Museum of Art by me and Harold Philbrook, with assistance from Ted Hummel. The performance was one of fourteen installations and happenings that made up Nightlight, an artist "intervention" organized by Kimberly Convery.

With assistance from Ted Hummel, patrons made drawings on sticky notes in the Great Hall and brought them up the stairs to the first floor landing, where Harold and I - wearing clinical/pod-men costumes with luminous helmets - were inside two drawing labs/pods built into the bay windows of the museum. Patrons inserted their drawings into a slot in the middle of the pod, and the drawings were stuck up on the clear walls of the pod from the inside. Harold and I also created our own drawings while inside the pods. Over the course of the two-hour event the walls of the pod were eventually obscured by the drawings on both sides, viewable from the inside and the outside of the museum.

These are just a few snapshots from the night. If anyone else out there in Internetland has good pictures of the performance I would appreciate getting a chance to see them! Please email me at

Upcoming performance at Portland Museum of Art

Harold Philbrook and Jeff Badger
I spent today building elements for an upcoming performance with Harold Philbrook at the Portland Museum of Art. It is one of a number of projects presented as part of an "intervention" titled Nightlight, curated by Kimberly Convery, scheduled for December 7th between 5:00 and 7:00pm, as part of the First Friday Art Walk and the museum's Copper Beech Tree lighting ceremony.
