6/6/6 arrives in Portland

6/6/6 made is sixth and final stop at Gallery 37-A in Portland for the month of September, with an opening on September 2nd for Portland' First Friday Art Walk. The opening was a great party, with music by Matt Meyer & The Gumption Junction and beer from Sebago Brewing.

An interview appeared in the Portland Phoenix the week the show opened, and the show was positively reviewed by Dan Kany in the Maine Sunday Telegram. For this leg of the show I created a new installation called "Slowly, I Turned" -- images can be seen here.

The Gleaners

A new sculpture called "The Gleaners" is on display at Rose Contemporary in Portland, Maine. The show opens Friday, July 1 and will be on view through the end of August.
This work is funded in part by a grant from the Maine Arts Commission, an independent state agency supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, and I had lots of help from Ernest Paterno at Cyroni Glass, Marcus Van Oosterum at Neo Velox, Ralph Ruel, and the departments of Computer Science and Information Technology at Southern Maine Community College in the material sourcing and creation of this work, which is made of found electronics, glass, and steel, and features light and sound elements. You can see a video and more images here.

6/6/6 opens in Santa Fe

The 6/6/6 traveling exhbition opened at Linda Durham Contemporary Art this past Friday. A front page write up in the Albuquerque Journal gallery guide and a great crowd made for a fantastic evening in Santa Fe. A few pictures of the show and the opening can be found here on the 6/6/6 Facebook page. Over the weekend I saw some great shows at SITE Santa Fe (particularly Amy Cutler), Center for Contemporary Arts, and about a thousand galleries, and hiked Tent Rocks Nat'l Monument. Thanks to Joanne Lefrak for being my tour guide.
